On the damp ground, at the foot of an ancient oak, sat an old man. His breath was shallow, his hands trembled from the cold, and his eyes were filled with despair. His own children had brought him there \u2014 to throw him away like a broken toy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They had waited a long time for his death. The inheritance \u2014 the big house, the land, the money \u2014 was supposed to be theirs. But the old man refused to die. The wind howled through the branches, but another sound pierced the silence \u2014 the haunting howl of wolves. He knew the end was near.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014 \u201cDear God\u2026 is this how it ends?\u201d \u2014 he whispered, folding his trembling hands in prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, a branch cracked. And another. The sound of footsteps grew closer. The old man tried to stand, but his weak body betrayed him. His eyes searched the darkness \u2014 and suddenly, a wolf emerged from behind the bushes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The beast stepped onto the path, its fur glistening under the moonlight, its eyes glowing like embers. It raised its head and took a slow step forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s over,\u201d thought the old man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He closed his eyes and began to pray louder, waiting for the sharp pain of fangs tearing into his flesh. Slowly, he stretched out a trembling hand. The animal didn\u2019t move away. Instead, it let him touch its thick, warm fur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And in that instant, the old man remembered. Years ago, when he was still strong, he had found a young wolf trapped in a hunter\u2019s snare. He hadn\u2019t hesitated \u2014 he had freed it, risking his own life. The wolf had vanished into the trees that day\u2026 but it had never forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, that same creature bowed its head before him \u2014 the savior who once showed it mercy. Gently, it knelt, inviting the man to hold on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With great effort, the old man clung to the wolf\u2019s powerful neck. The animal rose and began to carry him through the darkness. The forest seemed to part before them \u2014 no beast dared approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After what felt like hours, a faint light appeared ahead \u2014 the edge of the village. The wolf stopped at the first house, howled once, and carefully laid the old man on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the villagers came running, they couldn\u2019t believe what they saw: a great wolf standing guard over the frail old man, alive and safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As they carried him inside, tears streamed down the old man\u2019s face.
