The Billionaire and the Boy with a Pure Heart
A billionaire, growing more suspicious with age, had noticed small sums of money going missing from his house. Suspecting the new maid, he decided to test her young son.
He pretended to be asleep in his armchair, leaving bills and a safe brimming with gold within easy reach, fully expecting the boy to give in to temptation.
But the boy, small and serious, did something completely unexpected. He approached the safe, picked up a gold ingot, studied it for a long moment… and then carefully put it back. Without a word of greed, he whispered:
— One day, I’ll buy this for my mom.
Then, noticing that the billionaire wasn’t fully covered by his blanket, the boy quietly approached and tucked it around him.
— Good night, sir, he said softly.
The billionaire opened his eyes and felt a deep, stinging shame. He had been wrong to think honesty depended on age or wealth. The next day, he paid for the boy’s education and generously helped his mother.
For the first time in years, he understood that one should never judge a person by their clothes or social position. True wealth lies in the heart.
